How Important Is It To Be Right?

post image

‘Tis the season… of button pushing.

Someone just shared with me that he was preparing to join his family for the holidays and compared it to being at a convention for button pushers! The main offender?  His mother. She continually asks for his opinion but never acts on his advice. From his point of view, his mother suffers greatly and his advice, if taken, would alleviate most if not all of her problems.

Given the vibrational undertone I was able to see the root issue; out of love for his mother he had labeled her suffering as destructive. Being at ground zero of a cycle of asking for advice and then ignoring it again and again was now creating suffering, sadness and anger in him. As he said, “If she would just listen, then everything would get better.” This ever growing rift was being fueled by his assumption that his mother’s journey could or should be different.

I offered a simple solution. During this holiday, when you are with your mother, just accept her. Lovingly accept her circumstances. Any advice that you give should be shared without attachment that it is going to be heeded or even heard. This will be a huge step toward personal freedom. Remember, as the old saying goes… you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink….

So where are you tied up in knots over someone not taking your advice? With whom are you constantly angry or frustrated because you feel your wisdom, if heeded, would revolutionize their entire life? How often are you pressuring your spouse or children to act on your guidance? And each time your wisdom is ignored, how frustrated and angry do you become?

I too am a husband, a father, a son, as well as a man who carries a gift of deep awareness for all who come to experience vibrational transformation. I know the frustration of watching someone you love struggle, especially when you so strongly believe that you can minimize their pain and suffering because of the wisdom you possess. I am on a first name basis with the frustration and anger that arises when my advice is blown-off. And I have an old friend named resistance who comes to sit with me as I step back and allow those I love to walk their own path of discovery.  But I’ve also come to realize the perfection of the Divine’s plan and timing. I have come to trust that when all people, places and things are left to their own self-discovery, they naturally find the harmony and equilibrium that is their birthright.

Within every relationship and interaction you have a choice. Will you stand steadfast in your need to be heard and in doing so limit your capacity to love those around you? Or are you ready to choose an alternative? With every interaction in life the Divine is bringing you into a greater expression of self-love. When you give up the need to be heard and surrender the need to be right you give up the need for life to conform to your ideas and beliefs. With this conscious and energetic choice, you open the doors to profound miracles. You move into the flow of energy and life. You are freed to embrace what is unfolding and those who are navigating it alongside you, just the way they are. With this practice of acceptance you begin to love as the Divine loves, completely and totally without reservation.

Over the next few weeks as family, ex-family, holidays and traditions collide trust that you are going through exactly what you need to – exactly what your soul has called into being for your greater evolution. I vibrationally extend to you the spaciousness to recognize the perfection of each soul’s journey so that you can relax into WHAT IS instead of continually focusing on what should be.

So here’s to a Merry Button Pushing Holiday and a Trigger-Free New Year!  My love and blessings go with you.

I am finding when I just stand there in the Presence and feel what my loved one is expressing, it seems to wash through me without me doing anything or giving advise. My loved one feels better and thanks me for listening. We can chose to suffer or we can chose to experience. The Divine is very interested in our lifes and wants to experience it with us. Grace floods in. Praise be to God.
