The Need for Balance

post image

The 2nd disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in less than five months is an important wake-up call. While no one was killed and as yet no oil is gushing into the fragile ecosystem, it is clear that we as inhabitants of this planet need to examine the impact of our actions with conscious awareness.

With the explosion of the Mariner Energy-owned platform, the Gulf of Mexico was placed in further turmoil. The platform (just one of 3400 currently operating in the Gulf) is located 100 miles south of the Louisiana Coast and only 200 miles west of the BP oil rig which exploded in April spilling millions of gallons of oil into the Gulf. It was initially reported that an oil sheen one mile long and 100 feet wide had begun to spread from the site of the fire, but at this time there are no visible signs of a spill. Collectively 1/3 of America’s domestic oil is pumped from the Gulf of Mexico establishing this area as the backbone of the United States petroleum industry.

We are the only species on the planet that doesn’t live in harmony with nature and therefore we have become the greatest problem. We have bypassed our intrinsic instinct for balance and harmony in the pursuit of greed and power. The consequences of our collective actions are being felt throughout the world. However the full extent of this imbalance has yet to be experienced.

As long as we live for short term gains and continue to allow the bottom line to navigate our moral compass we will continue to further push the planet into discord. I am not against people profiting from ingenuity. I am passionate about creating wealth in ways that promote life and enhance the future of our planet.
How much further must we tax our God-given resources before we realize the arrogance of our ways?  Mother Earth is bountiful in her ability to sustain herself and her inhabitants. But like an overworked mother being pulled in every possible direction by the continual needs and wants of her children, she too is beginning to feel the strain and exhaustion.

It’s time to have a conscious look at your life. Examine the impact of your actions. Are you a part of the problem or will you be counted as one of those who are becoming a part of the solution?

It is not my role to pass judgment on what already exists. We are where we are. I am simply here to remind you of your infinite capacity to live in harmony with yourself and this planet in a way that promotes the life and longevity of generations to come.

This will be our legacy.

I experienced goose bumps when I heard of the 2nd explosion and know as I continue to actively work on balance, with increased awareness and by the choices I make, I Am contributing to the
solution as are so many.
Thank You Panache.
