The antidote for shame is intimacy. Authentic vulnerability. When we reach that place of vulnerability, we are also able to receive––truly receive—from another.
I have not up to this point in my life really chatted with shame. I have never taken off my cape of secrets and laid it at someone’s feet. I have avoided unlocking this safe box for fear of having a curved brow, an eye shift or a pointed finger cursing me for my foolishness. So here I sit, not sure of what I’m feeling. Deep breathe.
