Meditation is an important tool that can slow you down, quiet the constantly chattering voice in your head, so that you begin to live fully in the present moment and gain the clarity you need to clearly see the path ahead. Oh, by the way, while meditation is a tool and a practice, it isn’t difficult and it shouldn’t be approached with trepidation or an over-serious attitude. Like anything that’s learned, the more you meditate the better you get. It’s like riding a bike, or swimming or playing a musical instrument. Do it regularly and it will become second nature. Also, remember that you can meditate anywhere. You don’t have to be in a lotus position in a darkened room in order to gain the benefits that a meditation practice brings. All you need is 10 or 15 minutes and a little bit of quiet. You can meditate lying in bed before you get up or before you go to sleep. You can meditate in a comfortable chair. You can even meditate in the shower!

Starting today, try to put aside a small bit of time every morning and evening to listen to this meditation. While you listen, straighten your spine, breath fully and evenly and consciously relax your muscles. Be aware of the thoughts running through your mind, but don’t concentrate of them or let them distract you. Simply observe them, as you would clouds crossing the sky. The goal is simply to be…to be here now.
