Your Life Is Your Medicine

I have been contemplating life and the arc narrative of the Hero’s Journey. In these stories, and in the experience of my own life, and through experiencing the lives of other people, the worst thing that ever happened to me was the BEST thing that ever happened to me.

The angels I am most grateful for were the ones that delivered the hardest experiences, the most painful, gut wrenching, and the most heart-breaking experiences. I feel like we don’t give those angels enough credit. I feel like we don’t celebrate the tough times or the hardships we’ve gone through. We don’t celebrate the necessary discomfort we had to experience to be agitated into awesomeness.

Your life is designed to stir up everything within you that you have to feel. Your life is your medicine. The journey of your life is the answer to the questions, What is enlightenment? and who am I? Why am I here? Day by day you uncover that answer, by discovering who you are not.

So the worst thing that ever happened, and I mean the very worst, horrendous thing, served to make you who you are now. This ties into the truth that we can’t mess up what’s meant for us. Ultimately, every single thing is serving a part in waking us up to who we really are.

Some of you are so attached to the worst thing that ever happened, and you make existence, God, and creation wrong for the fact that that happened, including making yourself wrong. We have to have the courage to just acknowledge “I am  alive, I am here”.

If there’s life there is hope. Where there’s hope there is the potential and the possibility of evolution.

Resting in the awareness of your breath transforms your life into a living meditation.
